In 2022, work began on building the extension, Parkhjørnet, which is centrally located at Haukeland Hospital and is being built as a free-standing building between the Old Main Building, the Central Block and Jonas Lies vei. A high-tech sterile supply centre with pioneering work in the automation of laundry and sterile functions, with an associated fully automated warehouse.
On the site, it was challenging to manage stormwater in the ground due to culverts and infrastructure under the building. In collaboration with Nordplan AS and Rambøll AS, the solution was therefore placed on the roof in the early phase of the project. Protan PlueProof evaporates 31 cubic metres of water on the roof and discharges a maximum of 2 l/s to the municipal network, far better than the building that previously stood there.
The 955 square metre roof is covered with Protan BlueProof Green and covered with sedum from Bergknapp. The work was carried out by Protan Entreprenør Hordaland AS for Veidekke AS.
